Leo William Boncher

Mr. Leo William Boncher, age 90, of Spring Lake and formerly of Holly and West Branch died Friday evening, November 28, 2008, in Muskegon. He was born March 9, 1918 in Rudyard, MI to William & Susanna (Fischer) Boncher; and was a graduate of Rudyard High School. Leo was a decorated World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran with over 25 successful missions flown over Germany. Following his discharge, Leo owned and operated Leo W. Boncher Landscaping and Excavating for over 30 years. He was a member of the Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Eagles, and of the VFW Post in Holly, MI. Leo was a generous man and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. SURVIVORS include his wife of 67 years, Cecelia (Namowicz); 3 children, Patricia (Julius "Skip") Aycox of Schenectady, NY, Frederick (Marilou) Boncher of Caledonia, and Cynthia (Randy) Van Ittersum of Spring Lake; 12 grandchildren, Jon Osterlitz, Kurt (Kelly) Osterlitz, Kristen (David) DeSalvatore, Karen Aycox, Christopher Aycox, Brent (Tracey) Boncher, Mark (fiance' Chantal Bazzoni) Boncher, Nicholas (Julia) Boncher, Elise Boncher, Jason (Koryn) Van Ittersum, Jennifer (David) Kaiser and Jared Van Ittersum; many great-grandchildren; four siblings, Dorothy Douglas of Iron Mountain, MI, Bertina Bennie of Rudyard, MI, Larry Boncher of Rose City, MI and Veronica Iverson of Troy, MI; and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Frances Joseph Boncher and Mary (Bonnie) Musselman. A MEMORIAL MASS will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9669 Kraft Ave., Caledonia MI 49316 at 11 a.m. Saturday December 20, 2008. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Leo's honor to the American Cancer Society.
