HOEKSTRA, MRS. LENA Grand Haven, MI Mrs. Lena Hoekstra, age 91, died Friday, August 8, 2003 at North Ottawa Care Center. She was born in Chicago, IL on September 14, 1911 to John & Beatrice Lubben Slinkman & married Albert S. Hoekstra at Chicago, IL in 1928. He preceded her in death in 1975. Mrs. Hoekstra had been employed as a Nursing Aide at Shore Haven Living Center, North Ottawa Care Center & Riverside Nursing Center & was a member of Hope Reformed Church. Survivors: 1 son, Albert P. Marsha Hoekstra of Brandon, FL; 4 daughters, Beatrice Wallish, Janet Cuddington & Kathryn Dale DeYoung, all of Grand Haven, MI & Linda Watters of Spring Lake, MI; 1 son-in-law, Henry Plantenga of Spring Lake, MI; 26 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; 12 great great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Edna Miedema of Wheaton, IL; brother, Norman Slinkman of Yorba Linda, CA. She is also survived by many step-grandchildren; special friends, Chuck Maitzen, Mel Meyer & Elmer Yell. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bertha Plantenga in 1969 & by 5 brothers & 4 sisters. Service: Tuesday, August 12, 2003, 11:00 AM at Hope Reformed Church with Rev. Arnold Vanbeek officiating. Interment at Spring Lake Cemetery. Visitation: Monday, 5-9 PM at Clock Funeral Home.
