Layla Barazi Rukieh

Layla Barazi Rukieh of Sylvania, OH passed away peacefully on March 14, 2013. She was born on January 5, 1921 in Damascus, Syria and spent much of her life in Muskegon, MI. Layla's great joy in life was caring for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Sam, with whom she was the proud proprietor of the Muskegon Hotel until his death in 1978. Layla was a past member of the Muskegon Woman's Club and active in the Women's Chamber of Commerce. The Rukieh family would like to express great appreciation for the loving attention given Layla by the staff of Sunset Village in Sylvania. SURVIVORS Layla leaves behind to cherish her memory sons, Gassan (Wanda) of Muskegon and Adnan (Becky) of Chicago; grandchildren, Amy (Ryan) VanDyke, and Charles Beattie. In addition, Layla is survived by her sister Aisha, brother Abdul (Rihan), sister Fatima, and many loving nieces and nephews. MEMORIAL GATHERING Saturday, March 16, 2013, from noon to 1:00 PM at the Clock Chapel - Muskegon with a grave side service to follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
