Mr. Lawrence R. Morse, age 86, was called home Friday evening, February 16, 2007 to be with his Lord. He was born April 22, 1920 in Shelby, MI to William T. and Mabel (Goodenrath) Morse and had been a resident of the Muskegon area for most of his life. Mr. Morse was an active member of Dalton Baptist Church for 66 years. Larry served in WWII as a Staff Sergeant in the South Pacific for 3 years. He was employed at Lakey Foundry and Neway until retirement in 1985. He then worked in the greenhouse business. Larry enjoyed family camping, gardening, farming, woodworking, working with his John Deere tractor, baseball, and bowling. On June 5, 1948 he married the former Ruth L. Johnson in Muskegon and she survives him along with 4 children, Ray (Denise) Morse, Daniel (Lisa) Morse, Randall (Sue) Morse, Janet (Shane) VandeVrede; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Roger Morse, Bill (Beverly) Morse, Jr.; 2 sisters, Joan (Jim) Deters, Judith (Loren) Schultz; and a beloved former daughter-in-law, Patricia Larson. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Dalton Baptist Church with his son-in-law Shane VandeVrede officiating and Military Rites under the auspices of the Muskegon County Council. Burial will be in East Dalton-Oakhill Cemetery. VISITATION will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Tuesday at The Sytsema Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 MEMORIALS to Dalton Baptist Church or Harbor Hospice will be appreciated.
