Lawrence Duane Helferich, age 71, passed away on February 7, 2008. He was preceded in death by his father, Laurence C. Helferich; mother, Grace M. (Fitzgerald) Helferich; and a sister Janice M. (Helferich) Bisard. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Pauline; two children, Deborah L. Betts of Seattle, WA and Laurence D. Helferich, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; granddaughter, Natalie L. Betts of Seattle, WA; brother, and sisters, Kaija (Ila) Walters of Tucson, AZ, Molly Helferich of Fairbanks, AK, Thomas (Patricia) Helferich of Muskegon, Ann (Rick) Kozloski of Muskegon, Michael Helferich of Muskegon, Bess (Beth) Path of Homer, NY, Jack Helferich of Buckley, MI, Timothy (Shelley) Helferich of Muskegon, Rick (Tina) Helferich of Grawn, MI, and Sheila (Lloyd) Smith of Seattle, WA; and step-children, John Mullins and Lisa Delis, both of Muskegon. Duane was a member of IBEW #275, the NRA and the Muskegon Conservation Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, ice fishing, hunting, and boating. He enjoyed gardening, chopping wood, and working in his orchard. He was a member of the United States Marine Reserve. Duane worked as an electrician at Continental Motors and Shaw Box Crane, and was the Owner/Operator of Helferich Electric. Visitation will be held at the Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel, 1783 E. Keating Ave., on Sunday, February 10, 3- 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Harbor Hospice.
