Lawrence Cioe

Mr. Lawrence J. "Larry" Cioe, age 94, went to be with our Lord, November 6, 2012. He was born in Chicago IL on March 29, 1918 to Louis & Mary Cioe and lived most of his life in Muskegon. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's and married Carolyn Stone on November 10, 1937. He was a veteran of World War II and served with the USCG-Merchant Marines aboard a Liberty ship (SS William Mulholland) and was also a past commander of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a surveyor and civil engineer and retired as City Engineer from the City of Muskegon after many years of service. Larry was a member of McGraft Memorial Congregational Church for over 50 years who was an avid sailor, boat builder and a life time member of the Muskegon Yacht Club. SURVIVORS Son, Richard A (Elizabeth) Cioe of Norton Shores; grandchildren, Leanne (Mark) Duplissis of North Muskegon, Scott (Kelly) Cioe of Portsmouth NH; 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn and son, David in 2002; parents; 2 brothers, Everisto his sister, Rose; grandsons, Richard Jr. and Todd Cioe. SERVICE Services will not be held.
