LaWayne Goodwin, age 89, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024. He was born in Muskegon, MI on September 13, 1934 to Miles & Velma (Roher) Goodwin and married the former Joan Hughes on February 26, 1955 at the Cloverville Community Church. Wayne worked as an Electrical Engineer/motor-winder for over 45 years at Hall Electric , Whitaker Electric and Wylie Electric. He was a talented Bowler and could bowl well with either hand! Wayne also loved to fish for salmon, steelhead, and perch on it Grand Haven's North pier. He was a left handed softball pitcher for church leagues for several years. In his younger days he liked to do pencil drawings. But foremost in Wayne's life was a desire to be a witness for his Lord and Savior. He was a member of Fruitport Bethel Baptist Church for over 50 years. The church is now called Calvary Church. He served as a deacon, the director and founder of the bus ministry, which provided transportation for children and families to attend church on Sunday, and he would often go door to door spreading the good news of Christ.

Wife, Joan; daughters, Marlene (Michael) Keur, Dianne (Dr. Kent) Amstutz, Gayle (Rick) Brodrick; grandchildren, Kendra (Joshua) Pratt, Kristi (Joseph) Whalen, Jessica Adams, Timothy Adams, Abbey Brodrick, Addison Brodrick; great-grandchildren, Isabel, Lilly, Joseph 5th, Alexander, Alice, Arthur, Anne Marie, Nolan, Harper. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Evelyn, Harold, Vern, Lucille, Ruby, Miles Jr., Pearl.

SERVICE

Saturday, March 9, 2024, 11:00 AM at Calvary Church with Pastor Keith Sandison officiating. Interment in Egelston Township Cemetery.
