Laura Sue Gordon-Thornton, age 92, passed away Monday, December 11, 2023. She was born in Calhoun City, Mississippi on October 31, 1931 to Curly B. & Ruby (Gates) Gordon. Laura Sue was a wonderful mother, grandmother and homemaker. "Muh" as she was called by her children had a special relationship with every one of her nine children.

Granny Gran at last count had 32 grandchildren, 94 great-grandchildren, and 49 great-great grandchildren. She was a long-time member at Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church. She enjoyed cooking, canning fruits and vegtables, and spending time visiting with her brothers, sisters, children, and grandchildren.

SURVIVORS

Nine loving children, Robert (Malinda) Thornton, Mae Etta Wells, James Earl "Buster" (Theresa) Thornton, Loretta Briggs, Ladura (D.D) Thornton, Jackie (Johnny) Robinson, Toni (Victor) Johnson, Valeria Mickens, Louis (Angela) Donley Jr., Louis Donely III. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. "Muh" also had the privilege to raise and care for her granchild, Louis "Red" Donley III. Sue, as she was called by her siblings was preceded in death by her son, Ladura Thornton; parents; sisters, Annie Mae Ezell, Rosie Lee Glover, Ruth Etta Jackson, Emma Jean McKinley, Ruby Ree Russell, Yvonne Thomas, Betty Lue Cole, Bobby Jean Butts, Mary Sykes; brothers, Arlis Gordon, Earlie Gordon, C.B. Gordon Sr,Eugene Gordon, Luthel Gordon, JR Gordon, John-EL Gordon, Arthur Gordon, Willie C. Gordon. Sue was the last living child of her mother.

SERVICE

Monday, December 18, 2023, 12:00 Noon at Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church with Suffragan Bishop Avery D. Burrel officiating. Interment in Mona View Cemetery.
