Laura Jean Johnston Profile Photo

Laura Jean Johnston passed away peacefully on Monday, August 1st, at her home surrounded by family. Laura was born and raised in Muskegon, MI and was a loved and valued member of the community. Laura loved her job in physical therapy as a PTA, and impacted many lives through her work. She had an infectious love of horses that she spread to her family and many others. Laura felt that it was her obligation to use that passion and knowledge to give back to the community. One way she accomplished this was through her involvement with the Muskegon County Mounted Unit, which earned her the honor of participating in the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Parade. SURVIVORS Laura is survived by her husband of 34 years, Howard Johnston Jr., and four children: Holly (Pablo) Lugo, Nikki (Kyle) Goodchild. Natalie (Chad) Medema, and Grant Johnston. She is also survived by her mother, Nancy (Kenneth) Yarranton-Johnston; brother John (Chris) Strickler; sister Nanette (David) Madison as well as her six grandchildren: Samuel, Anya, Avery, Gabriel, Genevieve and Alex. SERVICE In lieu of a traditional service, a gathering will take place at her family home on Saturday, August 6th at 1:00pm. We will be planting fall perennials in her honor to bloom yearly for her birthday, guests are welcome to bring their own flowers to plant in the garden. Laura will be missed by many, she expected a lot out of people but gave so much more than she expected in return. Phoenix Crematory Services
