Dr. Larry Wilson Talkington, age 82, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017. He was born in Ekalaka, Montana on April 8, 1934 to Jack & Doris (Hubbard) Talkington, and was a Korean War veteran who honorably served his country in the US Air Force from 1952-1962. He received a BA in Psychology from Whitworth University, a Masters Degree from University of Montana and eventually his earned PhD. As a pioneer in the field of clinical psychology, he spent his professional life working to improve the lives of the developmentally disabled and also authored several Psychology books. Larry moved to Muskegon, Michigan in 1977 to serve as the Director of the Muskegon Regional Center until retiring in 1993. He married the former Linda Quick Andrews on September 2, 1988. Larry was a member of Town Club Dinner Dance and West Shore Jazz Society. He enjoyed gardening, sailing and loved to travel the world, especially to Thailand and Africa. SURVIVORS Wife of 28 years, Linda; sons, Michael (Terri) Talkington of Idaho, Ryan (Hilde) Talkington of Germany, Darin (Sunny) Talkington of Virginia; stepchildren, Laura (Rev. Robert) Livingston of Ann Arbor, Douglas (Christy) Andrews of Spring Lake; Sister, Jackie Washington of Montana; 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Coleen. SERVICE A private family Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
