Lance Allyn Welmers, age 62, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2023. He was born in Grand Rapids, MI on April 7, 1961 to Burton & Marjorie (DeArmond) Welmers and married Sue (Pelkey) Welmers on August 20, 1988. Lance "Red" Welmers had been employed as a Parts Manager for Toyota in Grand Rapids, MI for 10 years. Before that, he was an auto mechanic for 25 years. Red attended Jenison High School and enjoyed music, concerts, camping with family in Manistee National Forest, walking his dog Ziva , he was also a diehard Detroit Lions fan; he attended games with his best friend Charlie.

Wife, Sue (Pelkey) Welmers; daughter, Amy Smits; son, Ron (Alison VanOrden) Hembree; brother, Tony Welmers; grandchildren, Waylon Simmons, Ronnie Hembree II (Ally), Brookelynn Hembree (Marc Danger), Brianna Hembree (Ross Davis), Hailey Hembree, Madison Hembree, Kelsey VanOrden (Caleb Rose), and Hunter VanOrden; great-grand children, Grayson Hembree and Haisley Rose; brothers in law, Michael Pelkey and Larry (Nancy) Pelkey ; sisters in law, Andie Welmers and Beverly Welmers, son in law Jeff Smits,daughter in law Elizabeth Robertson and his nieces Christy Welmers and Kim White, his nephews Chad Welmers, Mason Welmers , Jerome Welmers and many great nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Ziva. Red was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Randy and Bob; Sister in law Jeanette Flynn, Brothers in law Mike Flynn and Bill Pelkey, and son in law, Jason Simmons.

Monday, July 24, 2023, 6:00 PM at Clock Funeral Home with Pastor Jesse Cabrara officiating.

VISITATION

Monday, July 24, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Clock Funeral Home with refreshments from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
