Johnie Edward Knight, age 82, passed away at Hackley Hospital on Wednesday, November 22, 2006. He was born on February 15, 1924, in Yazoo City, MS to Ephraim Knight and Isabella Simmons. He moved to Muskegon in his early twenties, and worked at Lakey Foundry, and Monroe Steel Casting, until he became ill, and took an early retirement. He loved cars, and was an avid reader. He spent many hours traveling the world from the comfort of his easy chair. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Fannie (Hildreth); and children, Louise, Phillip, Wayne, Stanley and Donald; brother, Titus (Stella) Knight; sisters, Alfreda (Clarence) Ratliff; Iona Collins; Leola (Lewis) Johnson; and Juanita (James) Anderson; 18 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ephraim ("Honeyman"), and Printes ("Bib"); and daughter, Brenda Miller. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2006, at Toombs Memorial Chapel, from 4:00-9:00 p.m. with Family Hour from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Service celebrating his life will be held at noon on Friday, December 1, 2006 at Spring Street Baptist Church. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
