Kevin Hamilton Shaw, age 72, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of Sunday, October 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and under the gentle care of Harbor Hospice.

Born on October 28, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan, Kevin was the son of the late William T. and Margaret "Maggie" (Hamilton) Shaw. He was raised Catholic, attended Saint Agatha's in Redford Township, and graduated from Bentley High School. On March 17, 1972, Kevin married the love of his life, Bonnie Sherman, sharing 54 devoted years of marriage.

Kevin dedicated over 30 years of his life as a skilled overhead door installer and head mechanic, working with Quality Overhead Door in Taylor, Michigan, and Bob's Overhead Door in Baltimore, Maryland. Known for his strong work ethic, mechanical expertise, and reliability, he was widely respected by his colleagues and community.

A passionate sports lover, Kevin bowled a sanctioned 300 game, played and umpired softball for many years, and loved the game of golf. Even after facing health setbacks and losing his leg, he maintained his competitive spirit and humor through weekly Xbox golf matches with family. He was an uncompromising fan of Michigan sports, always lighting up at the mention of a Saturday football game. Kevin cherished family memories of playing on a softball team with his sons for many years, Friday night card games and especially trips "up north" to the family cabin near Lewiston, where they would make visits to Mackinac Island and Traverse City, walk the dunes, and have quiet moments along the local trout stream.

Kevin is survived by his loving wife and dedicated caregiver, Bonnie Shaw; his loving dog Koda; his sons, Jason (Jen) Shaw of Baltimore, Maryland, and Christopher(Lisa) Shaw; his cherished granddaughters, Althea Shaw (senior at Mount Holyoke College) and Cassidy Shaw (high school senior); his siblings, Peter Shaw, Kelly, Tim Shaw, Leanne Libetro, Katie Lawrence,; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and longtime friends in Michigan and Maryland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William T. and Margaret Shaw, and his sisters, Sarah Shaw and Debbie Shaw.

In accordance with Kevin's wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal public services will be held. His family will celebrate his life privately and hold his memory close in the places he loved most.
