Kevin J. Laninga

Mr. Kevin J. Laninga, 34, went to be with his Heavenly Father Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008. He was born Jan. 9, 1974 in Grand Rapids to Ronald and Betty (Schipper) Laninga, grew up in Hudsonville, and had lived in Muskegon since 1999. Kevin was employed as the Recreation Program Coordinator at E.C. Brooks Correctional Facility for ten years, organizing things like sporting events, worship services, and physical fitness activities. Kevin married Lisa Ann Eacker on July 7, 2001 in Muskegon. He was a member of Fellowship Reformed Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. Survivors include his wife, Lisa; his parents, Ronald and Betty Laninga of Hudsonville; siblings: Brian (Laura) Laninga of Hudsonville, Sherryl (Tim) Kamphuis of Zeeland, and Mark (Judy) Laninga of Holland; father and mother-in-law, Larry and Joan Eacker of Muskegon; two sisters-in-law: Renae and Kara Eacker both of Muskegon; and many aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces. FUNERAL SERVICES for Kevin Laninga will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Fellowship Reformed Church, 4200 E. Apple Ave., with Pastor Greg VanderMeer officiating. Interment will be made in Egelston Township Cemetery. VISITATION will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at The Lee Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey Street (North of Pontaluna Rd.)
