Kerry Donell Liles, a devoted father, grandfather, and friend, was known for his vibrant personality, strong work ethic, and deep love for his family and community. He was born on January 16, 1960, in New York, New York, to James Walker and Martha Liles. After the passing of his mother at a young age, Kerry was lovingly raised in North Carolina by his grandmother, Mary Lassiter, whose guidance and faith helped shape the man he would become. Kerry peacefully departed this life on October 20, 2025, at the age of 65.
Kerry's life reflected his dedication to service and adventure. He held various positions that showcased his versatility and commitment-working at Hart and Cooley in Holland, Michigan, serving honorably as a firefighter for Muskegon Township, and ensuring safety and protection as a security guard at Hackley Hospital and Eagle Alloy in Muskegon. His love for the outdoors and animals led him to a long-time role as a wrangler at the Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury, Michigan. No matter the job, Kerry brought energy, integrity, and joy to every task he took on.
Kerry leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will continue through his children: Donell Liles, Qianna Liles, Kyliegh Liles, Nikkia Liles, and Charity Johnson. He will be fondly remembered by his cherished grandchildren: Aaliyah Johnson, Tristen Johnson, Jaquian Liles, Aubrianna Pierce, Daveion Saucier, Journey Liles, Anthony Hines Jr., Malaysia Quinn, and King Liles.
He is also survived by his former wife, Vivian Liles; and a host of special nieces and nephews including April Raglin, Tiffany Bankhead, Lamont Bankhead, Valisa Bankhead, Perry Seals, Donald Seals, Daniel Seals, Savanna Bankhead, John Raglin, Richard Bankhead, Matthew Thompson, Thaddeus Bankhead, Mario Alexander, and Anthony Hines; along with many other loving relatives and friends who will forever treasure his memory.
Kerry will be remembered for his laughter, his kindness, and the countless ways he touched the lives of those around him.
