Kathy Lynn Kinney, age 64, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023, peacefully at her home in Norton Shores, with her two cats cuddled beside her. She was born in University Hospital, Ann Arbor, Michigan, on September 28, 1959, to Lowell and Roxie Kinney. She moved with her parents to Muskegon in 1963 where she attended Mona Shores Schools graduating in 1977. She then went on to attend Muskegon Community College, Davenport College and Grand Valley State University. She excelled in the music programs at Mona Shores, playing alto clarinet in the band and singing in the advanced choir. In addition, she played the piano, was self-taught on the guitar, and wrote poetry and songs, mostly for her own enjoyment. She held several jobs in the West Michigan area, her favorite being at the Muskegon Race Course where she worked at the betting windows interfacing with the public. Known around town as "Kat" or "Too Tall", she loved riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle and could be seen playing pool at local establishments. She was a friend to all and would help anyone who needed it. Kathy liked visiting her grandparents in Mississippi and the Upper Peninsula. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

SURVIVORS

Parents, Lowell & Roxi Kinney; Sister, Rebecca Kinney; nephew Ezekiel Kinney; significant other, Tim Shunk; several cousins. Kathy was preceded in death by her brother Stephen in 1989.

MEMORIAL SERVICE

Monday, October16, 2023 at 1:30PM at First Prebyterian Church with Pastor Mackenzie Jager officiating. Interment in Norton Cemetery.
