Mrs. Kathryn Eighmy Cain, age 91, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011. She was born in Madison, WI on August 1, 1919 to Robert Moulton & Ella Amanda (Lee) Eighmy and was raised in McFarland, WI on her family farm. She graduated from East High School in Madison, WI in 1937. Kathryn received her BA in Institutional Management from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1942. Kathryn married Orville Cain, Jr. on September 14, 1952. Kathryn was actively involved in McFarland Lutheran Church, especially Tabitha Circle and the quilting group. She was active in the community as both a Girl Scout and a Girl Scout Leader, as well as welcoming many of the new residents in McFarland for over 50 years. Kathryn loved being a homemaker and a grandmother. Kathryn and Orville lived in McFarland, WI until 1987 when they moved to Grand Haven to be near their daughter and grandchildren. Kathryn then became a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she was active in quilting and Ladies Aide. She also frequently knit sweaters and blankets for the Lakeshore Pregnancy Center. SURVIVORS Daughter, Lynnda (Douglas) DeVries of Grand Haven; 2 grandchildren, Rev. Kjersti Devries of Biscoe, NC and Matthew (Samantha) DeVries of Indianapolis, IN; sister, Roberta Schubring of Baraboo, WI; sister-in-law, Bert Cain of Twin Lake, MI; several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Orville. MEMORIAL SERVICE Friday, April 29, 2011, 3:00 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church of Grand Haven with Pastor Dieter Haupt officiating. Visitation with the family will follow at St John's Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers please consider one of the following MEMORIAL: Hospice of North Ottawa; McFarland Lutheran Church of McFarland, WI; Shriner's Children's Hospital; or St. John's Lutheran Church of Grand Haven, MI.
