Kathleen "Kate" Mavourneen Miles (nee Bole) was born October 17, 1931 to Ralph Bole and Alma (nee Larson) Bole in Muskegon Hts. Michigan. Kate grew up in Muskegon Hts. where she attended school graduating from MHHS in 1950. She was a proud "Tiger" and excelled in school. Following graduation from high school, Kate met and eventually married Russell James Miles in Muskegon, MI who preceded her in death. Together they had seven children. Kate was employed for many years at the Muskegon County building where she worked as an administrative assistant in the emergency management division. Anyone who has ever worked in the county building at that time would have known Kate. Her office, because of her warm and infectious personality, was the center of respite from work. At any given time you could find a judge, prosecutor or police officer among many others "holding court" with Kate. Her thoughts and opinions were given very high value. Kate was a magnet to people. She was blessed with a quick and witty sense of humor found in only the rarest of people. She was non-judgmental and accepted people as they were. Many found it to be unwise to square off in a poker game with her. Kate was loved. She was loved by her husband of fifty years, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandchildren. She was loved by her many friends and coworkers. She lit up every room she entered and darkened it when she left. She will be sadly missed by so many.

SURVIVORS

Kate is survived by her sons, Steven (Karen) of Chase, Michigan, Gary (Molly) of Frankfort, MI., Bradley (Susan) of New York, New York, daughters Lori (Erwin) Grasman of North Muskegon, MI. and Linda (Justin) Dickinson of Grand Rapids, MI. and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with a very special friend Myrna Corpe. Kate was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Alma, brothers Rogers, Jack, Ralph Jr. "Buck" and Gerald, her husband Russell, and two sons, Wayne and Joel.

SERVICE

A Celebration of Life for Kate will be held on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, 1 pm to 5:00 pm at the Don Rea VFW Post 8846 in North Muskegon, MI.
