Kathleen Anne Hale

Kathleen Anne "Kathy" Hale, age 77, of Muskegon, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at her residence at Dayspring Assisted Living.

She was born on June 15, 1949, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Dr. Robert Hale and Beverly (Hines) Hale. Kathy grew up in Muskegon, where her faith was central to her life from her earliest years. She was raised in the Catholic faith at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, where she was an active member of the choir and discovered a lifelong love of singing. She graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School in 1967 and went on to attend Ferris State College, where she was pursuing a career in Veterinary Medicine..

At the age of nineteen, Kathy's life was profoundly changed when she was injured in an automobile accident. With remarkable determination, she relearned to walk and to talk, and though the road to recovery was long and challenging, she met it with a spirit that endured throughout her entire life. Those who knew her well understood that her outward limitations never diminished the depth of her mind or the warmth of her heart. She became well known as a devoted and enthusiastic Trivial Pursuit player, with teammates always eager to have her on their side, and she carried on the needlepoint tradition she had learned alongside her beloved mother Beverly, who operated the Lazy Daisy Needlepoint Shop in downtown Muskegon and was a member of th Embroiderers Guild of America.

Kathly was a familiar and cherished presence in Muskegon. She spent many happy days at the Muskegon Mall, greeting friends and strangers alike with her characteristic warmth. She regularly attended mass at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in downtown Muskegon, a community that became a cornerstone of her adult life. She had a deep and enduring love of horses - drawn to their beauty through pictures and stories - and her favorite color, pink, was said to be a reflection of her cheerful and gentle spirit.

In the late 1980s, her mother Beverly formed a lasting friendship with Kelly Visconti, and Kelly became a treasured part of both Beverly's and Kathleen's lives. Following Beverly's passing in 2004, Kelly became Kathleen's guardian, and the two shared a close and devoted bond for more than twenty years. Kathy spent those years as an active and beloved resident at Dayspring Assisted Living, where she continued to enjoy the friendships, activities, and simple pleasures that made her life full and meaningful, and shared her humor with everyone she encountered. The staff at Dayspring were a wonderful part of her family and Kathy always felt at home there.

Kathleen is survived by her guardian and cherished friend, Kelly Visconti of Muskegon, Michigan, and her brother, Michael Hale and niece Sarah Hale. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Hale, and her mother, Beverly (Hines) Hale.

A memorial mass to celebrate Kathleen's life will be held at Saint Mary's Catholic Church on Friday Morning, September 4, 2026, officiated by Father David Sacha. Exact Service time will be announced soon. Kathleen's cremated remains will be laid to rest at Saint Mary's Cemetery, in a plot beside her parents.
