While creating forever memories with those she loved, Karon Green lived and loved completely at every opportunity. An amazing woman, she was the glue that held her family together and her strength of heart knew no bounds. Not only a strong woman, Karon was protective of her family, and in all ways stood by their side. Always looking out for the needs of others, she gave unconditionally with a caring heart. Gone but never to be forgotten, Karon will be deeply missed. Although conservative in nature, the decade of the 1950s sculpted the culture of America. Everything from music to movies, art and media to beloved comic strips and cartoons introduced households to a whole new way of life. With manufacturing and home construction on the rise, the economy boomed as the suburban dream was being realized. Amid these exciting times, the Korean War monopolized the news waves and clashes between communism and capitalism dominated the decade with the ever present threat of the Cold War. It was indeed a time of change as well as blessings, especially in the lives of Harry Frank and Bernice Marie (Ernst) Nettnin of Waterloo, Iowa when on August 28, 1950 they welcomed the birth of their little girl, Karon Marie into their arms. At home in Iowa, Karon joined her older sister, Sharon in the Nettnin household. She enjoyed a typical childhood of her generation, and liked helping her father raise his beagles. As a young girl, Karon acquired a pet skunk. Unbeknownst to anyone until she was sprayed, the skunk was happily taken to another place to live. When she was a young girl, Karon and her family moved to the Chicago, Illinois area before making their home in Spring Lake, Michigan. She and her sister loved to go fishing, and they even made their own worm beds. She and her sister especially loved roller skating, and did so often. Karons father worked as a groundskeeper for the Spring Lake Yacht Club while her mother was employed as a cook. Throughout Karons youth fond memories were shared going for Sunday drives with her family and big Sunday dinners. They also enjoyed visiting her Aunt Ann and Uncle Dicks house where Karon and her sister would play with their cousins for hours on end. Much time during her youth was devoted to spending time there where Karon always recalled the best of times. She attended the area schools and went on to graduate from Grand Haven High School While out one night with friends at one of the local night spots, a handsome gentleman by the name of Dale Green bought Karon a drink. Too scared to turn it down, they soon met, began talking, and have been together since. Happily married on February 11, 1978, Karon and Dale went on to begin their new lives together as husband and wife. They made their home in Muskegon, Michigan where they raised their two children, Sharia and Chip. Karon made a loving home for Dale and the kids, and being a mother brought Karon the greatest joy. Always protective of her children, Karon possessed a strong demeanor and went without so her children could have what they needed and wanted. She carried much on her shoulders to ensure her family could live in a perfect world as she knew it, and in the years to come she was the best mother and friend her children could have asked for. A wonderful cook, Karon made many delicious family favorites through the years. Her family traveled often as her son, Chip raced motorcycles. True to her nature, Karon would prepare a huge meal in the pits, feeding everyone, and they were most often three course meals. She absolutely loved going to their cottage at Blue Lake for summer vacations which they continued to enjoy every year for 15 years. Over the years they also spent time traveling to Florida, Indiana, Georgia, Chicago, Illinois, and picturesque Traverse City. The holidays were always a special time spending Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve each year at Sharon and Bobs house. Karon carried on the tradition of enjoying Sunday drives with her family and enjoying lazy afternoon picnics. She especially loved taking motorcycle rides. As a couple, Karon and Dale enjoyed traveling with her brothers and sisters from Outriders M.C. and Brothers M.C. Along with taking care of her family, Karon also worked outside the home. For a time she was the owner and operator of Hoagie Heaven, a local favorite, and then she had a daycare she operated out of her home. Cooking was in Karons blood and she soon opened her business, Mrs. Gs Sliders. Above all, faith and family was extremely important to Karon. She was a faithful member of Journey Community Church, and after retiring two years ago, Karon had much more time to spend with the grandchildren she adored. She was so happy to be a grandma. Karon loved treating her grandchildren to overnights at hotels. Theyd spend the night, swim in the pool, and get pizza or go to a nice restaurant. Karon lovingly referred to these adventures as fancy camping. Although she loved each of her grandchildren the same, she had a way all her own in loving and treating them for their own special ways. She loved spending time with each one and doing fun things like shopping. Aside from the births of her children and grandchildren, Karon counted her daughters wedding day on September 29, 2012 as one of the most memorable days of her life. At her daughters wedding, Karon and Dale renewed their own wedding vows which made the day all the more memorable. There wasnt anyone quite like Karon Green. She put her own special touch into everything she did, and with loving intentions. She was a shoulder to lean on, and like the flowers she so loved, she could make the gloomiest of days seem brighter. An extraordinary woman in the hearts of many, may her love be what is remembered most. Karons last words to everyone, Alls good in Karons world.
