KERN, MS. KAREN I. North Muskegon Ms. Karen I. Kern, age 63, died Saturday, May 29, 2010 after a brief heart-related illness. She was born in Muskegon, Michigan on February 3, 1947 to Delmar & Joan (Ozgowicz) Rhodea. Ms. Kern retired from the Holton Public School District after a rewarding career of teaching for over 30 years. She had a big influence on the many students that she taught and inspired over the years. Karen enjoyed spending her time gathering with friends and family. She had a talent for home renovation and restored several beautiful homes in the Muskegon area. She was an avid gardener and her flower garden was appreciated by many people passing by her home in North Muskegon. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and the Muskegon Vikings. She will be missed dearly and remembered for her zest for life and compassion for others. SURVIVORS Son, Eric (Deirdre McNamer) Kern of Montana; daughter, Jennifer (Chris) Ansert of Kentucky; grand children, Maggie brothers, Ed Rhodea & Joe (Lynn) Rhodea; sisters, Jan (Paul) Trebilcock, Pat Rhodea & Carol (Joe) Richmond; many nieces & nephews and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. MEMORIAL SERVICE Wednesday, June 2, 2010, 11:00 AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church - North Muskegon with Father Anthony Pelak officiating.
