Karen Lee Chadwick

Karen Lee Chadwick, age 84, of Muskegon, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, at Harbor Terrace, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Muskegon on January 23, 1942, to Lawrence and Marjorie (Johnson) Ritter, Karen was a proud graduate of Muskegon High School. She built a long and successful career in advertising, working for the Norton Examiner and later the Muskegon Chronicle, where she spent about 25 years in inside sales. Known for her warm voice, Karen had a gift for making every caller feel like a friend.

On June 27, 1964, Karen married the love of her life, Thomas Chadwick. Together they shared 62 years of marriage filled with laughter, travels with close friends to Arizona, Washington, and California, and a lifetime of memories along Muskegon Lake. Karen delighted in baking, reading, and watching Hallmark movies. She adored Elvis, enjoyed shopping-especially for jewelry-and cherished time with her pinochle group. She was also a past member of the Muskegon Child Study Club.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Thomas; her children, Peter (Tina) Chadwick, Sally (John) Loftis, Valerie Chadwick DVM, Amy (Roger) LaVigne; grandchildren, Alyssa (Tim) Grondin, Brendan (Paige) Zandi, Conor Loftis, Logan Loftis; and her great-grandchild, Remy Grondin. She is also survived by her sister, Lori (Paul) Sietsema, and her brother, Mark (Barb) Ritter. She was preceded in death by her parents.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal services. A private family burial will be held at Sunrise Cemetery at a later date, and a memorial dinner will be planned for family to share memories.
