Mr. Babcock, age 79, died August 16, 2007. He was born September 13, 1927, in Manistee County to Chester and Edna (Clements) Babock. On June 23, 1946, in Springdale Township, he married the former Doris Hale. He had been an auto mechanic, owning Chum's Auto Service, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Fruitland Evangelical Covenant Church and over the years, he had been active with the Boy Scouts. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward & wife Emma Babcock; and two sisters, Helen & husband Art Myers and Alta & husband Stan Harold; a sister-in-law, Judy Babcock; and two brothers-in-law, Bryon Harold and George Myers. FAMILY: His wife, Doris; 2 daughters, Marsha (Marlin) Sanford of Grand Haven and Janice (Hobie) Hill of Fruitport; 2 sons, Philip (Jacqueline) Babcock of E. Lansing and Gary (Susan) Babcock of Blue Lake Township; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchidlren; close nephew, Robert Duty; 3 sisters, Hazel Harold, June Myers and Erma (Richard) Kessler; 4 brothers, Chester "Chet" (Marge) Babcock, Clayton (Phyllis) Babcock, Mitchell (Judy) Babcock and Dennis Babcock. SERVICE: Monday, August 20, 2007, at 11:00 AM, from Fruitland Evangelical Covenant Church with the Rev. Brian L. Kyle officiating. Interment will be made in Springdale Township Cemetery - Manistee County. VISITING HOURS: Sunday 4-7 PM, at Clock Funeral Home in Whitehall.
