June Ellyn DeBoer, age 60, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2007, at her home. She was born June 4, 1947, in Muskegon to Frank and Ellyn (Johnson) Smalley. She married Dale E. DeBoer on May 17, 1969, in Muskegon, and he preceded her in death on August 11, 2007. Mrs. DeBoer moved to the Tri-Cities area in 1971 and was a 6th grade teacher at Fruitport Community Schools, having earned a Master's Degree from Western Michigan University. She was a member of Christ Community Church in Spring Lake and the Mary Free Bed Guild, and she also served as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society as well as the March of Dimes. June enjoyed reading, traveling, boating, walking, and playing golf and tennis. June is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Joanna "Joey" (Jim) Bennink of North Hero, VT, and Dawn (Keith) Nykamp of Madison, WI; her son, Peter (Mandy) DeBoer of Grand Haven; five grandchildren: Zack, Brendan, Jonas, Sean, and Rowan; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dale. The service for June will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2007, at Christ Community Church in Spring Lake with Rev. Robert Kleinheksel officiating. Friends may meet the family 4-7 p.m. Saturday, December 29, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Interment will be in Spring Lake Cemetery.
