Johnson, Julia Reeves Northfield, Illinois Julia Reeves Johnson, beloved mother, grandmother and cherished friend, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021 in Muskegon Michigan. Julie was born on April 9, 1937 in Bozeman, MT to Rev. William T. Reeves Jr. and Margaret Scott Reeves. Julie spent her childhood in Muskegon and Grand Rapids, Michigan. She attended the University of Wisconsin and Hillsdale College, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority, graduating with a B.A. in 1960. Following college, Julie taught elementary school in the San Francisco area for three years before returning to the Midwest to continue teaching in Evanston, IL. It was there that she met Norm, the love of her life, whom she married in 1964. While raising two boys in Glencoe, IL Julie was active in a number of volunteer organizations including the Junior League of Evanston, and the Glencoe Garden Club. She and Norm also enjoyed many years of tennis, golf and social events at Skokie Country Club. As a minister's daughter, Julie maintained a lifelong interest in helping others. She volunteered as a patient assistant for Hospice of the North Shore and pursed graduate studies in Social Work and Gerontology at National Lewis College, where she received an M.A. More recently she served as a board member for the North Shore Senior Center. She was a longtime member of the Church of the Holy Comforter. Julie's warm and gracious personality shined on all those around her. She had an infectious laugh and a great sense of humor and enjoyed sharing it with friends and family. She filled her life with the love of family, the companionship of dear friends, widespread travels, spirited Labradors, reading, theatre, and long summers on Lake Michigan. SURVIVORS She is survived by two sons, Scott and Matthew, a daughter-in law Anne, four grandchildren: Owen, Emma, Hunter and Gardner; and a brother, William T. Reeves III. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norm, in 2011 MEMORIAL SERVICE A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Holy Comforter 222 Kenilworth Ave, Kenilworth, IL 60043 on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 1:00pm.
