Mrs. Julia Datres age 94 passed away January 5, 2017. She was born July 13, 1922 in Muskegon to Nicholas and Anna (Bundzeak) Elko. On April 19, 1947 was married to Ernest Datres. He preceded her in death on August 26, 1978. Julia was a homemaker and later worked and retired from the Henry Street K-Mart. She and her husband were founding members of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She was an active member of Prince of Peace Counsel of Catholic Women and for years volunteered at funeral luncheons. The family would like to thank her wonderful neighbors and friends for their thoughtfulness and generosity and Dr. Brian Burdo, M.D. for his years of kind and loving care of our mother. SURVIVORS Survivors include four daughters, Dr. Barbara (Dr. David) Pieper of Grosse Pointe Park MI, Kathy (Tim) Burke of Washington MI, Lorraine (Randy) Atkin of Port Huron MI, Janice (David) Hovrud of Park City UT; A dedicated and loving special nephew, Nick Elko; two grandchildren, Mark (Jennifer) Pieper of Silverthorne CO, Anne (Dr. Robert) Stevenson of Ann Arbor MI; two great-grandchildren, Joey and Claire Stevenson; sister-in-law, Virginia Elko of Bloomington MN and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded her in death by her parents; her husband; infant daughter, Veronica; her brothers, Michael Elko and Bill Elko and sister; Mary Radakovitz. FUNERAL MASS Monday, January 9, 2017, 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior to the service at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Vu officiating. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery.
