Judith Griffes

Mrs. Judith Griffes, age 65, passed away, Thursday, December, 11, 2008 at Mercy Hospital. She was born May 24, 1943 to Floyd and Helen (Nelson) Gornes in Muskegon and has lived in the area all of her life. She was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was proud to be the neighborhood "Mom." On November 27, 1965 she married Edwin Griffes and he preceded her in death on August 12, 1997. She is survived by 1 son, Dean (Nancy) Griffes of Muskegon, 2 grandchildren Casey and Brian Griffes. She is also survived by 2 brothers, Robert (Carolyn) Wilkie, Richard (Kathy) Wilkie, her special cousin Ruthie, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Gornes and Helen Gornes Wilkie and her sister Jacqueline Harley. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 13, 2008 at The Walburn Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 with Pastor Nicholas Fuller officiating. Visitation with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society. Interment will take place in Mona View Cemetery.
