Juanita M. Morris

Morris, Ms. Juanita M. Muskegon, Michigan Ms. Juanita M. Morris, age 82, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020. She was born in Memphis, TN on May 18, 1938 to Porter & Elnora (Jones) Miekens. Ms. Morris had been the first and only African American teacher at Oakridge Public Schools for over 40 years until retiring. Juanita was a member of Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church where she was the Sunday School Superintendent Emeritense and was a foster parent to many children over the years. Ms. Morris enjoyed gardening, basketball, softball, swimming, travel, projects to help people, teaching Sunday School, fishing & loved spending time with her family. SURVIVORS Children, Bonita (David) LaNore, Angela Morris, Ivan Morris, Tyre (Kim) Johnson; 8 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; father of her children, Ivory (Bertha) Morris; siblings, Terry Henry, Gracie (Louis) Churchwell, Nora Vine, Thelma Blackshire, Turner Allen, Yvette Mickens & Matthew (Donna) Mickens; sister-in-law, Gwen Allen. many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Timothy Morris, siblings, George Jones & Vernell Allen. SERVICE Monday, December 21, 2020, Noon at Clock Chapel - Muskegon with Suffragan Bishop Avery Burrel officiating. Internment in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
