Joyce Evans Profile Photo

Joyce Evans was a devoted wife and mother who poured herself into caring for her precious family and found being with them to be her greatest joy. The 1940s were very much shaped by WWII, which began for the United States when our nation was attacked on our homeland with the bombing of Pearl Harbor, on December 7, 1941. While our nation was deeply involved in preserving its freedoms, Matthew and Emma Jean (Hayes) Evans, of Muskegon, Michigan, were celebrating the birth of their daughter, Joyce, on September 28, 1943. Joyce and her brother Matthew and sister Karen were raised by Granny in a foster care home located in Muskegon. Joyce attended local schools and graduated from Muskegon High School. After graduating from high school, Joyce attended Ross Medical School and later graduated, ready to enter the work force. She found employment as a medical assistant for a few years. Joyce remained in Muskegon, located along the eastern shores of Lake Michigan, throughout what would be the remainder of her lifetime. Also of great significance was the birth of her children: Aaron, Douglas, and Stephanie. Joyce embraced her role as a mother and caring for her children became her main priority for a number of years. Joyce was truly unique and will be remembered as such by all who knew and loved her. She enjoyed singing and faith held an important place in her life. Joyce was a member of West Michigan Worship Center where she was very involved in numerous activities and ministries. Joyce was a compassionate woman with a tender heart that knew no bounds and she always brightened the days of those around her with her warm smile each and every day. Joyce Evans will be remembered as a woman with a strong faith and a spirit of generosity and also as a lifetime resident of Muskegon. She was a dedicated employee, but the job Joyce treasured most was that of being a mother to her beloved children. She will be dearly missed and warmly remembered. Joyce M. Evans died on Tuesday, June 30, 2009. Joyces family includes her sons, Aaron Evans and Douglas Evans; daughter, Stephanie (Quinton) Anderson; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, John Evans. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2009, 10:30 a.m. at West Michigan Worship Center, 1430 Hendrick Rd. Muskegon with Rev. Robert Johnson officiating. Please visit www.lifestorynet.com, where you can leave a favorite memory or sign the online guestbook.
