Joyce Deyoung

Mrs. Joyce L. DeYoung, age 80, went to be with her Lord Monday afternoon, May 28, 2007, in Muskegon. She was born May 27, 1927 to Thomas and Helen (Aldridge) Roush in Muskegon and was a life resident. Joyce worked at Lindback Distributing for 20 years before retiring, and previously worked at Vanderwerp-Schrier Insurance. She was a member of Bethany Christian Reformed Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, and was an avid golfer and card player. She was a member of Hickory Knoll Golf Course and played in the First Christian Reformed Church golf league at University Park. She loved following her children and grandchildren's sporting activities. On June 25, 1948 Joyce married John L. DeYoung, and he survives her along with 2 children, Vicki (Doug) Carlson of Spring Lake, Karen (Bill) VanDyke of Grand Haven; daughter-in-law, Barb DeYoung of Grand Haven; 4 grandchildren, Teresa (fiance', Jon Hall) Clark, Kelly (Jeff) Gannon, Sue (Dave) Knoll, Kellie Carlson; 4 great-grandchildren, Hannah and Emma Knoll, Peter and Alex Gannon; 1 brother, Dean Roush of Muskegon; 1 sister, Barb (Ken) Obenauf; special friends, Marv and Sue DeWall. She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Larry in 2003; infant son, Randy; and 2 sisters, Marge Fekken and Nellie Foley. SERVICES will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Bethany Christian Reformed Church with Pastor David Sieplinga officiating. VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service at church.
