Joseph "Joe" E. Volf

Joseph "Joe" E. Volf, age 95, of Spring Lake passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at a local care facility. He was born August 3, 1913, to George and Veronica (Markovich) Volf in Painesdale, MI, and he married the former Julia Tarak in 1942. She preceded him in death in 2004. Mr. Volf retired from Campbell Wyant Cannon as superintendent in 1975 after 38 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spring Lake. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed playing Bingo and building and repairing various items. Survivors include a sister, Mary (Bud) Sivonen of Painesdale, MI, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny and Blash "Shorty" Volf, and his sisters, Rose and Annie. Joe was cremated at his request and was buried with his wife, Julia, at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Muskegon. Plans will be made for a memorial service later. Memorial contributions to St. Mary's Catholic Church are appreciated.
