Joseph L Szymas

Mr. Joseph Louis Szymas, age 89, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017. He was born in Grand Haven, Michigan on September 28, 1928 to Joseph & Lena (Crouse) Szymas and graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1948. Mr. Szymas retired as a Supervisor for Story & Clark Piano Factory after 17 years. Joseph was a member of St. Patrick & St. Anthony Catholic Church in Grand Haven and was a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He enjoyed socializing at Pinewood Place, coffee with his friends, jigsaw puzzles, calling Bingo at Four Pointes Senior Center and Pinewood Place, but most of all visits from his family. SURVIVORS Son, John (Carol) Szymas of Grand Haven; daughters, Bette Jo (Ken) Chudy of Fruitport, Julie Johnson of Grand Haven, Jeanne (Garry) DeHaan of TX; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brother, James (Mary) Szymas of Grand Haven; sister, Barb (Howard) Teasley of Grand Haven; many nieces and nephews; the mother of his children, Beatrice Rose; Patricia Julian's children & grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sister, Patricia Ryder and special friend, Patricia Julian. SERVICE Monday, December 11, 2017, 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service at St. Patrick & St. Anthony Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Schwartz officiating.
