Joseph W. Soltys

SOLTYS, MR. JOSEPH W. Grand Haven, MI Mr. Joseph W. Soltys, age 83, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at North Ottawa Community Hospital. He was born in Grand Haven, MI on January 10, 1920 to Michael & Catherine Kaspryzk Soltys & married the former Dorothy Hansen on November 19, 1949. He served his country in the US Army in the China Burma India Theater. Mr. Soltys had been employed as an Accountant at Gardner-Denver for 40 years until retiring in 1979. He attended United Methodist Church of the Dunes, was a member of the Grand Haven Eagles, the VFW, The Masons, Royal Arch, Shriners, the American Legion & also the Grand Haven Golf Club. Survivors: Wife of 53 years, Dorothy; daughter, Jane Ann Gary Skeels of Rockford, MI; 3 grandchildren, Matthew, Samuel & Andrea; sister-in-law, Beverly ''Ann'' Russell Hughes of North Muskegon, MI; brother-in-law, Lt. Col. William Oliver USMC Ret. of Port Charlotte, FL; several nieces & nephews. Mr. Soltys was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Susan Jo Carlson; brother, Frank Soltys; sister, Ann Oliver. Memorial Service: Saturday, July 12, 2003, 11:00 am at United Methodist Church of the Dunes with Rev. Dan Duncan officiating. Military Rites by the American Legion Charles Conklin Post 28.
