POTTER JR., MR. JOSEPH R. Muskegon Mr. Joseph Robert Potter Jr., age 81, died Thursday, August 16, 2001. He was born in Muskegon, MI on May 9, 1920 to Joseph & Jessie Towne Potter & married the former Edith Trena Timmer in Muskegon on July 5, 1951. Mr. Potter served his country in the US Army during WWII as a combat Engineer in Battalion #1253 for 5 1/2 years from 1940 to 1946. He served in England, France, Germany & in anti-aircraft gun control in Panama. Mr. Potter had been employed as a Buffer at Shaw Walker for 35 years prior to retiring in 1981. He was a former member & communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church & presently was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He was also a member & past Commander of the Catholic War Veteran's Post #843, served as a board member for the St. Joseph Credit Union, was a member of the Holy Name Society & former President of the Ushers Club. SURVIVORS Wife, Edith; 3 sons, Douglas Lori Potter of Muskegon, Michael Gloria Potter of Nunica & Joseph Lori Potter III of N. Muskegon; 1 daughter, Pamela Gordon VanDyke of Spring Lake; 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Potter & by a sister, Doris O'Donnell. SERVICE Monday, August 20, 2001, 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Olson officiating.
