Mr. Joseph O. Miller, age 58, entered into rest on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 3, 1949 in Muskegon, MI to Margaret H. (Johnson) Miller and the late Kenneth L. Miller. He was a graduate of Mona Shores High School (1967) and Michigan State University (1975) with a B.S. in Business. Joseph was an Eagle Scout and obtained the order of the arrow. Joseph served as an enlisted corpsman in the naval reserves and intelligence officer, retiring as a lieutenant after 20 years of service. He was self-employed (1972-2007) managing and owning rental properties under the name of Acolyte Investment Management. He also worked for the State of Michigan, MDOT, for ten years. Joseph enjoyed people, sailing, and traveling with his daughter, nieces, and nephews. He loved to tell stories of his experiences in life and worked hard to maintain his rental homes. He adored his daughter and spent as much time as he could with her. Joseph was an energetic and loving son, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his mother, Margaret H. Miller; beloved daughter, Meghan A. Miller; one brother, Thomas (Sherry) Miller; two sisters, Marybeth (Gene) Kelly-Fowler and Maureen (Thomas) Tyler; a sister-in-law, Kathy Miller; 8 nieces and nephews, Kimberly Kelly, Ryan Miller, Sarah Tyler, Colleen (Tom) Merkins, Nick Tyler, Matt (Ricci) Tyler, Angela Miller, and Adam Miller; great-nephew Zaydence Tyler; step-nieces, Alexis and Amber Fowler; step-nephew, Andrew Fowler; close friends, George Lambert, Fred Schaeffer, Dave Haeck, and Janet Bourdon. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth L. Miller and brother, Kevin K. Miller. A memorial service will take place on Sunday July 22, 2007 at 2:00 pm at the Women's Club, 280 W. Webster, Muskegon, MI. We welcome family and friends to come and share their memories of Joseph. In lieu of flowers a donation in Joseph's name can be made to The Poppen Hospice Residence of Harbor Hospice Muskegon or Habitat for Humanity.
