GARZA, MR. GARZA, JR., MR. JOE R. Muskegon, MI Mr. Joe R. Garza, Jr., age 50, died Wednesday, December 26, 2001. He was born in Hart, MI on June 11, 1951 to Jose & Aurora Aguirre Garza, Sr. & married the former Dolores Morales on November 30, 2001. Mr. Garza had been employed as a Real Estate Broker for 27 years having worked for Transaction Real Estate & BMP Mortgage. He was also was a Translater for the District Court & Hackley Hospital. A communicant of St. Jean's Catholic Church, Mr. Garza was an instrumental leader in organizing the annual St. Jean's Hispanic Fiesta. He was on the Board of Directors for the Great Lakes Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, was a member of the Michigan Organization Project MOP, the Tulipana Association of Holland & also served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Among many additional involvements within the community, Mr. Garza was on the Muskegon Community College Hispanic Career Committee & also served on the Muskegon Summer Celebration Street Fair Committee. SURVIVORS Wife, Dolores; his father, Jose Virginia Palen Garza, Sr. of Muskegon; 2 sons, Sgt. Joseph H. Debbie Garza & Dan Terri Olson Garza, both of Muskegon; 4 grandchildren: Joshua, Jessica, Montana, & Connor Garza, all of Muskegon; 1 sister, Kay David Nummerdor of Muskegon; 1 brother, Ben Jerri Garza of Muskegon; his half-brother, Ricardo Saldivar of Muskegon; mother-in-law, Micaela Perez of Muskegon; several nieces & nephews as well as numerous close friends & many comadres & compadres. He was preceded in death by his mother, Aurora on October 24, 1996 & by his grandmother, Nicolasa Butcher on December 13, 1997. SERVICE Monday, December 31, 2001, 11:00 AM at St. Jean's Catholic Church with Fr. James Wyse officiating. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery. VISITATION Saturday, 6-8 PM and Sunday, 2-4 & 6-8 PM with a Rosary Service to be held at 7:00 PM during the Sunday evening visitation at Clock Funeral Home.
