Johnson, Virginia

Mrs. Virginia "Gina" Johnson, age 88, passed away unexpectedly October 10, 2006, following a long illness. She was born February 24, 1918 in Muskegon to Harry and Emma (Norman) Gaul. She married James E. Johnson in Muskegon on May 27, 1937 and he preceded her in death on December 5, 1992. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and a former member of the Ladies Golf Association at Lincoln Golf Club and the Elks Ladies Bowling League. For many years Virginia was an active volunteer with the Hackley Hospital Cherry Guild. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Ann (James) Borrowman of Muskegon; 2 step-sisters, Shirley Veldman and Lois Nye; 5 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a nephew. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jack in 1981. A Service of Christian Remembrance will be conducted on Friday, October 13, 2006 from St. Mark Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Zimmerman officiating. INTERMENT: Norton Cemetery. Virginia's family has requested that memorial considerations be directed to the St. Mark Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the Hackley Cancer Center.
