Johnie Mack Vines, Sr.

Thursday, December 13, 2007 God called Johnie Mack Vines, Sr. Home to eternal rest at the age of 85. Johnie was born November 27, 1922 in Edgecomb County, North Carolina. He was born to the union of Louise (Battle) Vines and Samuel Vines. He was married to Ethel Mae (Harrison) Vines. Together the had nine children. Johnie was retired from Grand Haven Brass. He attended Christ Temple Apostolic Church. Johnie was a very outgoing person. No one was a stranger to him. He was a friend to everyone he met. Johnie will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memories: His Beloved Wife, Ethel Mae; 5 sons, Harold Vines of Grand Rapids, MI, Curtis and Larry Vines of Muskegon, MI, Lee (Brenda) Vines of Milwaukee and Grover Whitley of North Carolina; 3 daughters, Glenda Vines (Edward - Bootsie) Heidelberg, Gloria Vines Scott and Dorisene Vines (Ronald) Jackson all of Muskegon Hts, MI; 26 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Matthew (Arie Nell) Vines, Charles (Gunell) Vines and Samuel (Rose) Vines, Jr.; 4 sisters, Laura Jane Anderson, Dorothy Vines, Ernestine Payne and Sadie Moody; 2 brothers-in-law, David (El Frances) Harrison and Nathaniel Harrison, all of North Carolina; 3 sisters-in-laws, Mabel Vines of North Carolina, Roberta Vines (special-in-law) of Muskegon, MI and Edith Walston (special-in-law) of Ellenwood, GA. Johnie was preceded in death by 1 son, Johnie M. Vines, Jr., 1 daughter, Zeline Eloise Vines. His mother and father, 3 brothers, James and Lewis Vines and David Anderson, 1 sister, Mary Vines Cooper. Viewing: Wednesday, December 19, 12 noon until 5pm. Visitation with family 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Wed. Dec. 19th at Toombs Funeral Home. Funeral Services: Thursday, December 20th, 12 noon at Christ Temple Church.
