John G. Zelenka

ZELENKA, MR. JOHN G. West Olive Mr. John G. Zelenka, age 86, died Monday, December 12, 2005. He was born in Grand Haven, MI on November 18, 1919 to John and Zuzanna Lehocky and married the former Elizabeth "Betty" Beekman on August 30, 1941 in Grand Haven. She preceded him in death on Oct. 17, 2003. Mr. Zelenka founded and owned Zelenka Nursery until retiring in 1975. He was a Elder and Deacon of First Reformed Church, the founder and past president of the Michigan Chapter of the Safari Club International, also the past president of the MI Association of Nurseryman, member of the American Legion Post 28 and the Plant Propagators Society, he had been a volunteer fireman and treasurer of Grand Haven Township. Mr. Zelenka enjoyed traveling, big game hunting, fishing and gardening. SURVIVORS 2 Sons, Paul Lori Zelenka and John Adele Zelenka, both of West Olive; 3 daughters, Marilyn Steve Tiles and Ruth Jim Novak both of Grand Haven and Jane Erickson of Vista, CA; 14 grandchildren, Paul A.Beth Zelenka, James Renee Zelenka, Tim Amy Zelenka, Jennifer Jason Rauch, Tara Jason Sherman, Suzanne Depp, Michael Shannan Dorman, Kristine Dorman, Becky Joey Wade, Joshua Jane Novak, Robin Tim Fitzpatrick, Russ Tiles, John Erickson, Lars Erickson; 21 great grandchildren, Courtney, Morgan, Erin, Hayley, Sophia, Doug, Tom, Joe, Abby, Megan and Matthew Zelenka. Emily, Jacob and Katherine Rauch. Alexandra, Hailey, Lindsay, MacKenna and Jason Sherman, Tyler and Elise Dorman. Mr. Zelenka was also preceded in death by his sister Emily Zelenka and granddaughter in law, Colene Zelenka. SERVICE Friday, December 16, 2005, 11:00 AM at First Reformed Church with Rev. Lou Kraay and Rev. Kathy Bartels officiating. Interment at Grand Haven Historic Cemetery. VISITATION Thursday, 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Clock Funeral Home, Grand Haven. MEMORIAL: First Reformed Church.
