SMIDT JR., MR. JOHN West Olive, MI Mr. John Smidt Jr., age 69, of West Olive, died Thursday, January 29, 2004 at North Ottawa Community Hospital. He was born in Martin, MI on August 20, 1934 to John & Janet Kolvoord Smidt Sr. and married the former Betty Hoffman on April 14, 1956 in Zeeland, MI. He served his country in the US Navy. Mr. Smidt had been a supervisor at Consumers Energy Corp. for 34 years until his retirement. He was an active member of Spring Lake Weselyn Church and was presently employed by Securitas . SURVIVORS Wife, Betty; 3 sons, Steven Wayne Smidt of West Olive, MI, Jeffrey Laura Smidt of S. Riding, VA, Eric Jon Cheryl Smidt of Bracebridge, Ontario; daughter, Lisa Renee Claude Smidt of Menorca, Spain; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Darlene Jack Driesenga of Holland, MI; sisters in law, Eileen and Viola Lohman of Hamilton, MI. SERVICE Wednesday, February 4, 2004, 11:00 am at Spring Lake Wesleyan Church with Rev. Dennis Jackson officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Clock Funeral Home. Memorial : American Heart Association or Spring Lake Weslyan Church Mission Fund.
