John Slager

Mr. John J. Slager, age 94, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011. He was born in Muskegon, MI on July 28, 1916 to Peter & Mabel (Caswell) Slager and served his country in the US Army during WWII. John married the former Linnea Jackson on April 12, 1946. Mr. Slager had been in Sales for Muskegon Hardware & Supply Co. for 35 years until retiring in 1982. He was a life member of Calvary Church of Fruitport. SURVIVORS Wife of 65 years, Linnea; daughter, Marcia (Dale) Welch of Grand Rapids; sister, Betty (Frank) Hansen of Muskegon; brothers, Robert Slager of Muskegon, Thomas (Maria) Slager of Edwardsburg; several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren, Jodi, Joell, sisters, Evelyn Hage, Lucille Harrington, twins, Lona Slager & Leona VanDonkelaar, twins, Mae Lager & Belle Richards. SERVICE Thursday, June 2, 2011, 3:00 PM at the Clock Chapel - Muskegon with Rev. Dr. William J. Rudd officiating. Interment at Lakeside Cemetery. VISITATION Wednesday, 6-8 PM at Clock Life Story Funeral Home - Muskegon. MEMORIAL: Calvary Church Missionary Fund.
