Mr. John Pawlowski, resident of Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, died May 3, 2007, at the age of 88. He was 1 of 11 children born to Anna (Poliwoda) and Leo Pawlowski on December 19, 1918 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. The family moved to Muskegon in the early 1920's and he graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1938. He served in the US Navy during World War II. On January 3, 1945, while in the service, he met and married his wife of 52 years, Marne' Spendlove Pawlowski. She preceded him in death July 8, 1997. He retired from Hooker Chemical Co. in 1979. Both John and his wife co-owned and operated Pawlowski Greenhouse in Montague for many years. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, White Lake VFW Post #3256, Algot Johnson American Legion Post #69, and White Lake F.O.E. #3214. FAMILY: 1 daughter, Patricia (Larry) Botbyl of Montague; 2 sons, Larry (Sandy) Pawlowski of Twin Lake and Ray (Terri) Pawlowski of Muskegon; 7 grandchildren, Bruce, Brian, Amy, Tammy, Jodi, Scott, and Mindy; 3 step-grandchildren, Tifanee, Troy, and Trent; 1 great-grandchild, Caleb; 4 step-great-grandchildren, Amber, Stephanie, Rileigh, and Sydney; 2 sisters, Agnes Waterman of Kansas City, MO and Mary Azzarello of Muskegon; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters, Rosalie, Stanley, Joseph, Frances, Ben, Sam, Theresa Rybik, and Sister Mary Rosalie RSM. FUNERAL LITURGY: Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 1:00pm, at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Thomas A. Schiller presiding. Interment will be made in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by White Lake VFW Post #3256 and Algot Johnson American Legion Post #69. VISITING HOURS: Monday, 1-3 and 5-7pm, at the funeral home in Whitehall. A VIGIL FOR THE DECEASED will be held Monday, 7pm, at the funeral home in Whitehall.
