John E. Mcmanus

John E. McManus, age 69, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, October 13, 2008. He was born in Muskegon on January 3, 1939 to Eugene Joseph McManus and Carla (Lusk) McManus. John was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired as a mechanic in the elevator industry and more recently was the owner/operator of Specialty Foam Saw Service LLC. He married the former Connie Lee Gomez on April 6, 1963. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be remembered by all that knew him for his unselfish gifted ability to lend a helping hand and provide great advice, guidance and support. We will always miss his smile, friendly laughter and sense of humor. He will be deeply missed and remain forever in our hearts. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Connie; 8 children, Carmen (Jeff) Wiedemann of Grand Haven, Darryl (Karin) McManus of Whitehall, John Jr. (Laurie) McManus of Grand Haven, Kevin (Tracey) McManus of North Muskegon, Duane (Shannon) McManus of North Muskegon, Greg (Anne) McManus of Spring Lake, Alana (Phil) Nevins of Spring Lake and Ryan McManus of Whitehall; 13 grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler and Alyssa Wiedemann; Eric, Evan and Ethan McManus; Kelsie, Marissa and Joshua McManus; Brennen and Troy McManus; Allison and Connor McManus. He is also survived by his mother, Carla McManus of Muskegon; his brother, Charles (Donna) McManus of Muskegon; and his sister, Ivalyn (Vic) Hanson of Grand Rapids; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Joseph McManus. SERVICES will be 11 AM Friday at Forest Park Covenant Church (3815 Henry St.) VISITATION: 2-4 & 6-8PM Thursday at The Sytsema Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
