John P. McKeown passed away at his home after a long illness. He was surrounded by loving family members who had been caring for him during his last days. He died peacefully. John was born July 21, 1925 in Chicago, IL. He joined the US Coast Guard during World War II and met his wife, Shirley (Moesker), while stationed in Grand Haven. He returned to Muskegon after his tour of duty and held several jobs before settling in at the Kaydon Engineering Corp. and retiring from there after 30 years. John loved to spend time with his family of 8 sons and 2 daughters; 38 grandchildren; and 45+ great-grandchildren. He became an avid golfer and could be seen at first light on the course at Chase Hammond with his wife, Shirley. He also was a devoted Catholic and a faithful member of St. Francis de Sales. St. Patrick's day at his home was always an event to be remembered, and the many guests would always leave with an Irish smile on their faces.
