Joe E. Lance

Joe E. Lance, age 81, passed away at home on February 8, 2008. He was born on October 4, 1926 in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Joe and Mabel Lance. Joe delivered newspapers around Atlanta until joining the Navy during World War II. Joe met his wife Sophie on a beach in California and carries pictures, that were taken that day, in his wallet to this day. After they were married, they returned to her hometown of Muskegon. He worked for Continental Motors before starting his own business as a self-employed carpenter. He was a dedicated husband, and loving father to six children. Along with his parents and wife, Joe was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Vicki. Survivors include, five children, Debbie (John) Johnivan, Karen (Phil) Pellerin, Roger Lance, David (Sarah) Lance, and Linda (Ron) Brosseit, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel, on Tuesday, February 12th at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Eric Coulon officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment will be next to his wife Sophie in Laketon Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
