Drake,
Joe Lee
Muskegon Heights, Michigan
Joe Lee Drake, age 79, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023. He was born on April 1st, 1944 to Mr. Lawson and Mrs. Carrie Drake in Helena, Arkansas. In 1954 at the age of 10-years old, Joe's mother relocated her children to Muskegon Heights, Michigan where she would continue to rear them after the death of her husband Lawson. Joe Drake attended Muskegon Hts. Public schools. Joe drake accepted Christ at an early age and remained a faithful believer until his passing.
Joe Drake was a hard-working man, maintainer, and protector of his family. Joe Drake spent numerous years employed at Park Street Machinery. Even after his (so-called) retirement he would still be found working shifts at the Park Street machinery shop. The employees would see Joe and ask, "I thought you retired" and Joe's reply would be, "I'll let you know when I retire." This is a testimony of Joe Drake's work ethics and dedication.
Joe Drake possessed numerous God-given talents that he utilized in his lifetime. Joe was a great mechanic, he refurbished and painted old classic cars, and he loved to ride motorcycles. Joe was known for just getting on the highway and riding out. Joe could play the guitar, keyboard, piano, and sing very loud (for all to hear).
Joe Drake was also known to be a man of many "funny" words and would always use those words to have those around him smiling and cracking up laughing.
Joe Lee Drake leaves to cherish his memory: His wife of 34-years who he affectionately called "Baby Doll" Della (Diggs) Drake.
