Joann Rae (Brash) Miller, 74, of North Muskegon went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. She passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family. Joann was born on October 27, 1947 in Muskegon, MI to Curtis and Marilyn (Westover) Brash. She grew up in Muskegon and graduated from Mona Shores High School in 1965. From 1973 to 2007, she worked for Howmet Alcoa (formerly Misco) for 34 years in various departments doing custodial work, shipping and working in the wax department. From 1967 to 1984, she was blessed to have four children: Todd Harris, Tonya Jacobs, Dara Hitsman and Jared Civis. She married David Joseph Miller on April 27, 2013 in Whitehall, MI. She resided In North Muskegon at the time of her passing. Joann attended Shiloh Tabernacle Church for many years and recently had been going to New Beginnings Assembly of God in Whitehall. She loved going to church-related retreats and activities. She was a faithful server and helper with the funeral ministry, and was always willing to be of service to those around her. Joann was happiest being in the company of others and was very welcoming, kind and encouraging. Her favorite pastime was to care for her children, and especially to spend time caring for and being with her grandchildren and great grandson. Her family meant everything to her. She had the biggest heart and a very generous and loving spirit. She also had a great love for animals (she had 3 pugs) and was always caring for strays. Joann was preceded in death by her parents Curtis and Marilyn Brash, one cousin and many aunts and uncles. She is survived by her husband, David Joseph Miller of North Muskegon; her four children, Todd (Mary) Harris of Belleville, MI, Tonya (Rick) Jacobs of Montague, MI, Dara Hitsman/Kris Miller of Whitehall, MI, and Jared (Lisa) Civis of Muskegon, MI; two sisters, Sandy (Kent) Bainbridge of Okemos, MI and Mary Kay (Mark) Will of Montague, MI; 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandson with another on the way, 1 aunt (Marcia Gruette) of Safety Harbor, FL and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
