Joan Austin

Mrs. Joan M. Austin, age 81, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2011. She was born in Muskegon, MI on April 20, 1929 to Evald & Signe (Johnson) Westin and married Merritt Austin on August 28, 1948. Mrs. Austin had been a loving homemaker and care giver who volunteered at Hackley Hospital. She was a member of Samuel Lutheran Church, the church choir and Elizabeth Circle. She will be greatly missed. SURVIVORS Daughters, Kathy (Gary) VanMunster, Peggy (Mike) Thompson, both of Muskegon; son, Merritt Ned (Julie) Austin of Muskegon; grandchildren, Heather Sikkenga, Heidi Bish, Dee Macleod, Joe Thompson, Devon Raap, Spencer Thompson, Paul Thompson, Kristy Taylor, Val Muniz, Stacy Kokx; 20 great grandchildren; sister, Leona Pezet of Muskegon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merritt; son, Spencer; daughter, Signe; her parents & 7 sisters. SERVICE Saturday, January 22, 2011, 11:00 AM at Samuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Marcy Miller officiating. Interment at Mona View Cemetery. VISITATION Friday, 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Clock Life Story Funeral Home - Muskegon. MEMORIAL: Samuel Lutheran Church.
