Jill Marion Breen, aged 82, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024, in Grand Haven, Michigan, with her beloved husband, Dan, by her side. Jill bravely fought a valiant battle with lung cancer.
Born on October 14, 1942, in Coventry, England, U.K. Jill was the cherished daughter of Edith Kenzie and George Hudson. She grew up with her brother, Brian, in Welshpool, Powys, Wales, United Kingdom. Jill pursued her passion for education, attending teacher training in Birmingham, England, and later earning her Bachelor's Degree from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, Illinois.
On December 21, 1978, Jill married Daniel George Breen in Chicago, Illinois. Together, they raised two caring and generous sons, Darren and Llian.
Jill was a devoted Christian and a kind-hearted individual who touched many lives with her dedication, warmth, and faith. She thrived in sharing the joy of living with her family, and especially so in supporting her two granddaughters, whom she adored. In recent years, she also doted on her dog, Molly, and trained her as a therapy dog. Jill loved visiting the residents of Grand Pines Assisted Living with Molly. Jill also helped to coordinate worship services for the residents of Grand Pines, and she greatly enjoyed sharing in her faith with them. She will be fondly remembered for her compassion, strength, and unwavering love for Christ and her family.
Jill will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Dan, of 46 years; her sons, Darren (Mandy) Breen of Grand Haven and Llian Breen of St. Louis, MO; her granddaughters, Anwen and Karys of Grand Haven; her faithful canine companion, Molly; and her brother, Brian (Sunanda) Hudson of Rugby, England, U.K. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edith and George Hudson; and treasured pets, dogs Tom and Gina, cats Pickle and Sooty, and others. Jill leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will be held dear by all who knew her.
A memorial service to celebrate Jill's life will be held at First Reformed Church in Grand Haven, Michigan on November 15, 2024 at 5 pm, with afternoon tea and dinner to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Jill's memory to Remember Nhu (rememberNhu.org) or Compassion International (compassion.com).
