Jilanne Marine was welcomed into heaven as its newest angel on Tuesday, May 29. There she was joyfully reunited with her father, David, who preceded her. Jilanne was a precious gift to so many throughout her 47 years on earth: Most especially, to her two daughters, Lauren and Kendyl, whom she loved fiercely and were the joy of her life. To her devoted and loving mother, Virginia Elwell and brother, Greg (Wendy), nieces, Kylie & Addison. To her partner, Philip La Spina. And to Meri, Tricia and Lynn who were like sisters that she got to choose. As a high school teacher for 25 years, her numerous Best Teacher awards were testimony to her strong influence in the lives of countless young people. Her impact went beyond their education. Her door was always open; she taught them morals, right from wrong, and somehow made it all fun. Jilanne was generous to the end, giving the gift of sight to two people who will now see the world through her beautiful eyes. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. We ask you to remember her in your own special way, knowing she will be forever with us at the beach, in the sunsets, and when we hear her favorite George Michael or Luke Bryan songs. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Liver Foundation to help others fight the good fight as Jilanne did or you can send flowers to 698 Pineway Drive, Muskegon MI 49441. Remember her advice to look on the bright side and be kind always. She will be loved forever, to the moon and back.
